In Spanish, to express that something is happening on a certain day of the week, the word " el " must appear before the name of the day. Examples:
- .. el lunes.
- .. el jueves.
- .. el sábado.
In phrase 2, the word "al" is a contraction of "a el".
- This only happens when the masculine definite article "el" (the) is preceded by the word "a" (to).
- This does not happen with the feminine definite article "la".
Examples:
- Incorrect: Me gustaría ir a el banco.
- Correct: Me gustaría ir al banco.
In Spanish, the days of the weeks are not capitalized.
